Firbimatic Spa

No component has ever failed because it was too clean!

— 21 / 08 / 2016

Perfect standards of cleanliness during the various stages of industrial cycles are today a crucial requirement that modern firms in space industry must achieve in view of the growing demand for finished products of impeccable quality.

Quality and precision are characteristic requirements of the aerospace parts production process, which comprises the production of prototypes and the complete supply of all the fundamental parts of the systems, complete with surface treatments and painting.

A research made by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology of Boston by Dr. E. Rabinowicz showed that 70 % of failure reasons of lower performance of components is to be motivated by the degradation of the surfaces and that the most of such failures take origin from mechanical wearing (50 %) and corrosion (20 %).

Presented during the training course of the American Society of Lubrication Engineers, Bearing Workshop, 1991.

REASONS OF FAILURE :

– Obsolescence of component (15 %)

– Accidental causes ( 15 %)

– Surface degradation (70 %)

Divided into :

– Mechanical wearing (50 %)

– Corrosion (20 %)

– Abrasion

– Fatigue

– Adhesion problems

The Firbimatic  cleaning  systems, are in total compliance with the international standards protecting operators and safeguarding the environment, cpaable to successfully treat both metal and non-metal surfaces including those with especially complex shapes, featuring blind holes or hard-to-access cavities, right up to the microstructure of components made of sintered material .

These cleaning units must completely remove both organic and inorganic contaminants from the treated pieces, pinpointing from time to time the cleaning cycle most suitable for the type of component and pollutant and they must be specially effective with parts of complicated shape containing blind holes, through holes, weldings, etc.,

The solid dirt particles such as powders, swarfs, shavings and inorganic salts must be successfully removed  as well asa layers of burnt oil and other solid contaminants (oxides and lapping and polishing pastes) deposited on the component which often require on the other hand the action of ultrasonics.
